(CAUTION: RANT COMING) I think it's safe to say that these past few weeks have been stressful. First, we got a bunch of hints, and then we kept hearing nothing but soon. Now, the biggest problem arose. Beta testing. I cannot stress enough how much this stage has begun to upset me. First off, let's just be honest here, choosing "supportive toons" hasn't been going exactly as planned. I don't even know where to begin with this topic. Hm.... First, I don't know about you guys, but I feel like most of the new toons in the TTI IRC are just toons who were from the TTR side and are trying to get a key. I don't even want to see you pop up in the IRC just for a key. If you don't give a bidoof about the community or anything but getting a key, get out. I'd hate to see toons who truly are supportive get pushed to the side just because of someone begging for a key. Yes, the mods and devs are picking in the IRC, but if you're gonna join the IRC, you might as well get a chance to meet everyone who has been in the TTI community and have a good time. I can say, confidently, that I am disgusted with some of the things I've seen in the IRC. I remember seeing someone say (no names here), "I don't care about the community, I just want a key." I find that absolutely sad. There are tons of people in this community that would die to have the opportunity to get a key, but if you don't like the community that comes with the game, then don't bother. You probably won't enjoy playing the game, either. Tying in with this, don't come to the IRC just to ask about release dates and if there was a contest or not. Most toons have been getting highly annoyed by this. Around 95% of the time, the answer will be no, unfortunately.
Secondly, everyone who does have beta keys, please stop bragging. I'm definitely not saying everyone who got one is doing this, but how do you think it makes others feel? Some toons have been dedicating their whole life for this (maybe that's a bit exaggerated, but still...) If you have one, be humble about it. Don't go flaunting it in everyone's face. If you get hate for it, don't go complaining either. It's like you just waved your huge chunk of meat in front of a pack of hungry dogs, pulling it away, every time they come close to grabbing it. This all being said, don't be so unconfident in yourself, people who don't have a key. I see everyone going like, "Oh, I probably won't win cause I'm stupid." Like, say something like that once, maybe, not 100 times. I understand not having self confidence, believe me, but I know some people find it attention seeking or something when you say it so many times, and they keep trying to convince you. Sometimes, you gotta loosen up on yourself. It's hard when people break you down, but in the end, just realize that not everything is your fault, and chances are you're just being hard on yourself. Besides, saying you suck doesn't get you any closer to a key.
Ok, next point. This beta key thing really isn't that big. Process that. It's 1 week, and I hear the test toons will be wiped afterwards, so it's not like the testers actually get a head start. Don't be that toon that's always like, "Give me a key". The key literally only lasts for a week, and nothing is gained. I understand that Beta testing is huge cause it means the game is coming soon. If you ARE thinking about testing, then think of your reasons. Is it just because you want to play, or are you willing to put some work and effort into it? The point of testing, while it should be fun, is to work and make sure the game is playable and works smoothly. Some toons I've seen don't seem to want to put any effort into it at all. The goal of testing is to make sure that everything is all set up and ready.
Another part, ok so, not everyone does this, but Trolls, stop getting everyones' hopes up and stuff. That's not cool. These toons have been waiting for this game for around 9-10 months now. We're all through with playing games. Anyone who is still here with the team is pretty hardcore and won't take that kind of cruelty. This community has gone through bashing, internet wars, drama and rumors, and everything from hacking to trolls. If you don't have real information, don't share it. You don't know who's behind the nickname. It could be a young kid who just wants their favorite game back, and by tricking and trolling on them, that might lead to trust issues, bitterness, and sadness when finding out the info isn't real. Is that really what you want to do? Crush peoples' hopes? That's sad.
I'm sorry for this long rant, but I felt that it needed to be said. People are making a he deal of these beta keys, and I can see it's tearing this community up. Is this really worth it?
